The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) managed to apprehend 7 counter officers ( 5 men and 2 women) aged 27 to 42 years, taken in for misappropriating road tax collection of around RM3.1 million.

All the suspects are from the Johor Road and Transport Department and they were suspected to misappropriate road tax collection for around 1,000 types of vehicles.

The suspects were said to have manipulated the MySikap system which caused the leakage of RM3.1 million over a six-month period.

According to MACC Head of Commissions, Datuk Seri Azam Bakti, the organisation only began to look into the matter after receiving an alert from the Integrity Department of the JPJ Direct-General.

The audience is requested to inform MACC right away if they have further information regarding the matter.

Azam also advised the individuals of the public who have completed payments at JPJ counters to always double-check their receipts after completing their business, in order to ensure that scamming did not occur.

The accused will be probed under Section 18 of the Corruption Act 2009 and will be brought to the Johor Bahru Magistrate for the remand process.
