Years after making its global debut, the 11th-gen Honda Civic is due for a midlife refresh. In order to get us excited for its launch, Honda has released two initial images of the upcoming Civic facelift model, which is poised to make its debut later in 2025.
Showing the FE sedan model, the facelifted Civic gets a reworked front face featuring a new front bumper design that looks similar to its souped-up twin, the Civic FL5 Type R. Besides the new face, this sporty saloon also appears to be riding on a new set of wheels that look larger than the 17- or 18-inch ones used on the pre-facelift models.
As of now, Honda has yet to reveal whether this facelift treatment will also take place on the hatchback variant of the Civic. The automaker did, however, promise that the updated Civic will get tons of extra features and additional functions, regardless of its body style.
Moving on to the second teaser image, it depicts the rear part of the new and updated Civic, featuring a redesigned rear bumper design. Though the facelift treatment seems mild on its derriere, this photo also reveals a very interesting fact about the upcoming Civic model.
As explained by Honda, the 2025 Civic will get an improved series-parallel hybrid (HEV) powertrain setup. Although the automaker didn’t go further in explaining all the details, Honda says that this revised hybrid powertrain will use the same setup as the current Civic hybrid model, which consists of a 2.0-litre 4-cyl Atkinson cycle petrol mill mated to two electric motors.
Honda has a pretty ambitious plan with the new 2025 Civic hybrid, with the automaker targeting at least 40% of its sales coming from this hybrid saloon. Set to go on sale in the US market later in 2025, we can expect the new Civic facelift to arrive in other global markets, including ours, immediately after making its American landfall.
So folks, what do you think of the facelifted Honda Civic sedan? Would you prefer this slightly updated model over its pre-facelift counterpart? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
