Thanks to the diligently resourceful folks over at HeadlightMag.com, we’re now getting a proper good first look – albeit virtually in images – of the face-lifted 2024 Honda City Hatchback. The model was just launched in Thailand this week with mild styling tweaks and tech upgrades.

For the Kingdom just north of our Peninsular’s border, Honda’s B-segment hatch fighter is marketed across five variants, three of which powered by a turbocharged petrol heart, followed by two that harnesses the H-marque’s e-HEV powertrains.

In the Thai market, the City Hatchback is marketed across five variants which, besides the e:HEV RS (top), also includes a sporty 1.0 Turbo RS (bottom left) and SV (bottom right) guises. (Images: HeadlightMag.com)

Said powertrains remains unchanged for before in the Thai-spec model, which the 1.0-litre VTEC Turbo three-banger supplying 122 PS and 173 NM. The e-HEV hybrid also continues to harness a 1.5-litre nat-asp 4-cyl mill paired with Honda’s i-MMD dual e-motor and battery setup. Unchanged too the CVT and e-CVT automatic transmission pairing with each powertrain type.

Aesthetic changes are mild, but it does see the Thai-spec model donning revised front and rear bumpers, whereas the sporty RS guises benefit further with updated LED head- and taillights, along with new 16-inch wheel design spicing its stance up slightly. Effectively, this mild nip-tuck mirror what we saw in the facelifted booted City sedan twin that launched locally last year.

Arguably, the most critical update in this Thai-spec model lies on the safety front. Like the refreshed City sedan mentioned, this de-booted twin sees all variations now brimmed with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite as standard across the board. This entails with the inclusion of adaptive cruise control (ACC) with low-speed follow (LSF) feature present in the high-end e:HEV SV and RS guises.

Another key update can be seen with the cabin as it now sees all SV and RS variants offered in the Kingdom gaining an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Said tech now offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, arguably enhancing its daily driving convenience and useability further.

Arguably the most critical change on board is the adoption of an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment in the SV and RS variant that now offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard across the board now too is the Honda Sensing ADAS suite.

Locally, Honda Malaysia is expected to introduce the face-lifted City Hatchback sometime this year with similar upgrades as this Thailand-spec version, albeit minus the blown 3-cyl of course. Expect the Malaysia market version to continue with the existing nat-asp 1.5-litre i-VTEC 4-cyl petrol and 1.5-litre 4-cyl i-MMD hybrid choices as it currently does.

At present, the City Hatchback currently retails between RM78,900 and RM109,900, depending on variant. Read our in-depth take of the Honda City Hatchback in e:HEV RS sporty hybrid form by clicking these blue words…
