Jaecoo, the luxury sub-brand of Chinese automaker Chery, is now a step closer to entering the local market fully. Earlier today, the brand’s Malaysian arm officially announced that registration of interest (ROI) for its first offering, the Jaecoo J7, will open this week.
In fact, the firm says that keen prospects can register their interest for the luxurious and off-road-capable SUV starting from April 10 onwards during the brand’s Jaecoo Premier Experience roadshow that’s being held this weekend at the 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya.
“The public’s consistent interest in anticipation of the J7, following two successful roadshows, has been very encouraging that we are so excited to begin accepting registration of interest,” notes Jaecoo Malaysia’s president Leo Chen in the press statement issued earlier today.
As a refresher, both the Jaecoo J7 and J8 were first previewed to Malaysian press in China back in 2022. It later made landfall earlier this year with a full-on preview, followed by a roadshow campaign to further promote brand awareness amongst discerning Malaysians.
With the ROI set to open this weekend, Jaecoo Malaysia also revealed estimated prices for the model. In base two-wheel-drive (2WD) form, things are estimated to start from RM150,000, whereas the up-specced all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant is estimated to start from RM160,000 instead.
As detailed prior, both variants share the same 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol heart outputting respectable figures of 197 HP and 290 NM. Said mill is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic box as well, promising equally respectable performance and drive dynamics.
Though ready for the rough, as proven when the J7 was put through its paces t the renowned M4TREC 4x4 proving grounds recently, the J7 also promises to deliver equally-high levels of luxury on board. It also promises to deliver both of which in a highly stylish package.
Keen prospects can inspect the Jaecoo J7 first hand during the roadshow mentioned earlier that’s happening this weekend before registering their interests. Alternatively, you can also get to know the Jaecoo J7 better through our initial preview report of it by clicking these blue words.
