New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition launched at NZ Wheels, Bangsar as part of MBM's '2024 Dream Cars Collection' mass launch.

We cap off our coverage of the ‘2024 Dream Cars Collection’ mass launch by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) held earlier this week at NZ Wheels, Bangsar, with perhaps the crème de la crème of the lot – the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition.

Aptly, this is a special edition iteration of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance four-door super-PHEV that MBM launched a year ago during the Malaysia Auto Show 2023. The theme of this special edition is the celebration of the three-point star’s successes in Formula 1 racing.

The Formula 1 Edition stands out from the regular model thanks to its exclusive exterior and interior features all inspired by the marque’s race- and title-winning Formula 1 racecar.

Unlike the base version, this special rocks an exclusive paintjob matched with a special AMG logo colour gradient decal down its sides, various carbon fibre bits, and red accents. The only thing missing? Dashes of green from its F1 title sponsors Petronas.

Special exterior touches include the non-metallic Manufaktur Alpine Grey paintjob, AMG logo crest and colour gradient from grey to black along the sides of the vehicle, plenty of red accents, 21-inch AMG five-twin-spoke forged alloy wheels, side skirts, as well as the front and rear aprons.

This special continues to adopt the AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre Package II that includes the rear wing, AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Night Package Exterior and AMG Night Package II that dons gloss black exterior trim, grille, tailpipe trim, model badges, and window surrounds.

Perhaps the only thing missing here is splashes of green from the team’s title sponsor and local petroleum giant Petronas to complete its full Formula 1-inspired look.

On board, there's also lots of carbon fibre trims pls special red-accented seatbelts and contrast tip-stitching motif. There's also a special 'F1 Edition' dash and floor mat logos.

On board, the F1 Edition’s cabin is decked out with AMG Performance seats wrapped in black Nappa leather upholstery with red contrast top-stitching, seat belts ,and “thread” on the AMG carbon-fibre trims.

Other notable inclusions are the AMG performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre, as well as illuminated door sill plates, dedicated ‘F1 E Performance’ dashboard and floor mat logos, as well as a customised AMG- and Formula 1-branded car cover.

Like the base version, the hand-built AMG 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo mill is augmented with a super-PHEV e-motor setup, altogether generating 843 HP and 1,470 NM to allow 0-100 KM/H dashes done in just 2.9 secs.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition continues to harness its F1-derived super plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. It consists of a signature AMG hand-built 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo mill augmented by a rear-mounted e-motor and battery system.

Altogether, the package outputs a whopping 843 HP and physics-defying 1,470 NM of twist, both of which managed by a trick 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic box and AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup.

In turn, all of which enables this sleek four-door electrified super-GT to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 2.9 seconds whilst enroute towards a claimed V-Max of 316 KM/H.
