Aside from the barrage of Chinese EVs and concepts, the upcoming 2024 Beijing Auto Show (also known as Auto China 2024) will also witness a slew of European automakers unveiling their products for the first time. Joining the show’s long list of debutantes is the MINI Aceman, the marque’s latest EV crossover.
Slotted between both the new Cooper and Countryman, the Aceman measures 4,075 MM long, 1,754 MM wide, and 1,495 MM tall, making it 217 MM longer than the three-door Cooper hatch but still 354 MM shorter than the Countryman.
Thanks to several previous testing shots and accidental leaked images, we’ve got a pretty good idea of how the Aceman will look. Simply put, the new Aceman is an amalgamation of both the new Cooper and Countryman, featuring MINI’s latest design cues with angular lines and aggressive creases all around the exterior.
Unlike the Cooper, the Aceman gets a more squared-up headlight design, making it easier to differentiate the two models in case its jacked-up look and five-door body style aren’t enough.
With the new Aceman sharing the same underpinnings as the Cooper, we can expect this middling EV crossover to share similar powertrain specs as its hatch twin. For reference, the new MINI Cooper Electric comes in two variants, with the baseline E variant getting a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor rated at 181 HP and 290 NM, which is juiced by a 40.7-kWh battery for up to 305 KM of WLTP range.
Meanwhile, the top-spec Cooper SE comes with a peppier FWD motor setup rated at 214 HP and 330 NM, plus a bigger 54.2-kWh battery that allows for a longer WLTP range of 402 KM. As for charging, both variants accept 11 kW of AC input as well as rapid DC charging inputs of 75 kW for the Cooper E and 95 kW for the range-topping Cooper SE.
Set to make its global debut next week at Auto China 2024, the all-new MINI Aceman EV will be paraded alongside both the new Cooper and Countryman EV, with the trio making up MINI’s latest electric product lineup. The new Aceman is also expected to enter production in China later this year, followed by the MINI Oxford plant later in 2026, with the facility in the UK now undergoing extensive renovations.
