With 18,247 units sold in the first three months of the year, the Proton Saga saw its best Q1 performance in twelve years. 5,906 units were sold in March alone, with 93 going to the export market.
The Proton X70, which is ranked as the second best-selling model in the Proton range, sold 2,072 units in March and 35 units overseas, for a total of 5,828 units sold in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the Proton X50 sales totaled 1,626 units. 326 Proton X90s, the company's first NEV, were delivered to customers in March, continuing the model's impressive performance in the D-segment SUV market.
Concerning the Proton Persona and Proton Iriz, the former sold 1,665 units in March, making its total sales for the first quarter of 5,370 units, making it the nation's second most popular B-segment sedan. Its hatchback sibling managed to hold fourth place in its market segment with 468 and 1,534 units sold during the quarter.
“For the rest of the year, Proton will look for continued sales growth by working closely with our vendors to produce more units of our best-selling models, such as the Proton Saga and Proton S70, while continuing to build our export sales volume,
We are confident of meeting our growth targets while also working towards our other commitments such as the development and introduction of our own EV model in the future,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
Regarding the global market, on March 13th, Ansa Motors, the Proton importer and distributor in Trinidad and Tobago, held an event at their branch on Charles Street, Port of Spain, to officially introduce the Proton X50 and Proton X90 to the public.
