Ahead of its first public appearance at the upcoming 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted EQS to the world. For its first mid-life update, the EQS gets an S-Class-inspired makeover, plus some minor equipment upgrades.
The most notable change that took place in Merc’s flagship EV sedan is a revised front grille design that features flush-mounted chrome slats to mimic the ones found on the S-Class, replacing the Three-Pointed Star monogram we saw on the pre-facelift model. Also present here is the new AMG Line front bumper, which comes standard on all variants of the facelifted EQS.
The facelift treatment continues as we get inside the EQS, with the EV sedan now featuring a slew of additional chrome accents around its already posh-looking cabin. For better cabin comfort, the EQS rear seats now have an extra 5 MM of foam, while the backrests can be adjusted from 27 to 36 degrees.
For those who feel that the facelifted EQS cabin is still a tad bit too tame for their taste, they can also opt for both the Pinnacle trim and the Executive Interior Package, which adds an extra array of comfort features, including heating functions for the rear seats, boss control for the front passenger seat, and many more.
On the performance side, the facelifted EQS benefits from a new and larger 118-kWh battery pack that is paired with new braking software that improves the energy regeneration performance. All in all, this improved battery setup grants the facelifted EQS a longer EV range of up to 822 KM, depending on the variant.
While its performance figures remain relatively the same as before, the dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variants of the facelifted EQS also have an increased towing capacity of up to 1,700 KG, a very significant improvement over the previous model’s 750 KG towing capacity.
Order books for the all-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS facelift will be opened later in April 25 for the European market, with sales for other international markets set to begin later this year. While the German automaker has yet to reveal its prices, we can expect the updated EQS to boast a higher price tag than its pre-facelift twin.
