BMW Malaysia Presents The Luxury Of Choice, The BMW 530e M Sport And BMW 530i M Sport

Merging luxury and performance seamlessly, BMW Malaysia have presented the masses with the best of both worlds in the guises of two new BMW 5 Series derivatives.

Unveiled in two new variants, the locally-made BMW 530e M Sport and BMW 530i M Sport completes the 7th gen of the BMW 5 Series with extensive engineering and design modifications.

BMW Group Malaysia’s managing director Hans de Visser commented, “The Luxury of Choice arrives with the New BMW 5 Series variants, both of which are remarkable in driving dynamics and stylishly sleek in appearance. The latest variants of the iconic BMW 5 Series offer a dynamic driving experience that is beheld in its class, and we are honoured to be able to lead this change towards electromobility in Malaysia to much greater heights for both our loyal customers and enthusiasts of the brand.”

Exterior wise, the new variants come with the M Aerodynamics package. On the front end, both the trims now have larger kidney grilles and slimmer headlights with a new daytime running light design.

For the 530e M Sport, it comes with adaptive LED headlights, in addition to the standard LED headlights, while for the 530i M Sport, it has been equipped with the BMW LaserLight. 

Both include a high-beam assistant with automatic switching on and off of the high-beam headlights depending on the traffic situation, controlled via a sensor on the front side of the interior mirror.

Furthermore, framing the silhouette of the 530e M Sport is the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line and for the 530i M Sport, it is the BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium Satinated. 

The front and rear bumpers on both variants have been redesigned with larger air intakes, along with new LED tail light elements in the signature BMW L-shape.

Debuting for the first time, the brand has integrated the light source directly into the taillight’s outermost layer in which it maximises the 3D effect.

Other than that, the new variants have also been installed with double-sided exhaust tailpipe finishers with a trapezoidal design and a distinctive diffuser insert.

As for the shoes, it rides on a new set of 19-inch M light alloy Y-Spoke 845 M Bi-Colour Jet Black wheels with both mixed and run-flat tyres.

Interior wise, the 530e M Sport and 530i M Sport boast an interior design language that is remarkably comfortable and features highly sophisticated technology.

Elegantly crafted, the new variants feature the exclusive M leather steering wheel, along with stylish sport seats for both the driver and the passenger.

All the upholsteries in both trims have been furnished with trim finishers in aluminium Rhombicle, Dakota leather and the BMW individual Anthracite headliner. 

Adding to the atmosphere, the illumination within both the trims’ interior is the ambient lighting and exclusive on the new BMW 530i M Sport, is the electrical glass roof feature.

On the technology aspects, the new variants’ interior features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which runs on the latest BMW Operating System 7. 

This infotainment concept is distinguished by its restructured display set-up, consisting of a user-configurable 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an equally large touchscreen control display. 

Said BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with navigation, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, 4G LTE connectivity, two USB ports, Remote Software Upgrade and over-the-air map updates.

Present on the dashboard of both models is a lighter-coloured contrasting seam, which continues onto the door trims, as well as control buttons in the centre console in high gloss black.

Moreover, exclusive to the 530i M Sport are the BMW Gesture Control, head-up display, BMW Display Key and Harman Kardon surround sound system. 

In terms of the latter, the sound system installed in the new BMW 530e M Sport is via a HiFi loudspeaker configuration as standard.

For added convenience, the new models offer the comfort access system, as well as the automatic air-conditioning with 4-zone climate control and electric roller sun blinds for the rear windows.

Completing the overall aesthetics inside and out, the new variants are offered in Alpine White or Carbon Black exterior hues paired with either the Black or Cognac Leather Dakota interior.

Plus, another styling option is the Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey or Bluestone exterior hues paired with Black Leather Dakota interior.

Performance aspects, both of the BMW 530e M Sport and BMW 530i M Sport are electrifyingly charged and powerfully efficient.

First off, the latest additions to the premium automaker’s portfolio of luxury executive sedans for the local market have been offered in both the plug-in hybrid and petrol variants.

Lurking inside the chassis of both variants is the formidable inline 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo 2-litre petrol engine and an 8-Speed Steptronic Sport transmission, which comes as standard.

Exclusive for the BMW 530e M Sport, the said powertrain has been paired to the latest generation of the BMW eDrive electric motor.

With that, the 530e M Sport trim offers a combined maximum output of 292 hp of power and 420 Nm of torque with 109 hp of output generated from the electric motor.

Therefore, the electrified 530e M Sport has a century sprint time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h. 

Fuel wise, it consumes only 2.3l/100km with a CO2 emission of 53g/km. As for the electric motor it has an all-electric range of up to 67 km according to NEDC.

Its electric motor can be fully-charged with a BMW i Wallbox in approximately 3 hours and 35 minutes or under 6 hours with a conventional main socket via a standard charging cable. 

As for the drive mode, in the electrified variant it can be personalised according to the driver’s preferences via the eDrive button in the centre console. 

Set under the standard AUTO eDRIVE setting, it enables all-electric driving up to a speed of 110 km/h. Then, switching to MAX eDRIVE mode enables all-electric speeds up to 140 km/h. 

Under the BMW Xtra Boost mode, which is also available, it gives the vehicle additional power of up to 40 hp extra during acceleration.

Meanwhile, the overall system output for the BMW 530i M Sport petrol variant is 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque. 

Enabling the car to dash from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and hitting a top speed of 250 km/h. The BMW 530i M Sport’s fuel consumption is 6.7l/100km with a CO2 emission of 154g/km.

Besides that, as added dynamics, the new variants also feature Adaptive Suspension and the M Sport brake with blue-painted M Sport brake callipers with M designation.

Safety wise, the new both trims have been installed with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and the Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist.

Uniquely, the BMW 530e M Sport features a specially-created sound emitted through a loudspeaker system that alerts pedestrians and cyclists of the vehicle. It is activated when the vehicle is travelling in full electric at speeds of up to 30 km/h.

Apart from that, the new variants are also fitted with other driving assistance such as, the lane departure and lane change warning, front collision alert with brake intervention, rear collision prevention and crossing-traffic warning. 

Also equipped is the Parking Assistant Plus that features the surround view camera for both variants and specially for the BMW 530i M Sport is the active cruise control with Stop and Go function.

Alternatively, to give extra flair, both the new BMW 5 Series variants can be further customised with the BMW M Performance Parts as an added selection.

It will equip the vehicle with kidney grille in high gloss black, exterior mirror cap in carbon fibre, M Performance trimmings, M Performance side sills, as well as rear spoiler in matte black.

Additionally, the M Performance Parts also comes with a rear bumper set, consisting of the rear bumper trim in high gloss black and rear diffuser in Matte Black. 

All of these added flair from the BMW M Performance Parts comes with a price tag of RM 17,410.29. However, from now until December 31, 2021, special rates of up to 10 percent off are being offered.

Not only that, exclusive for the BMW 530i M Sport is the Shadow Line Package, which tags at RM 5,437.12 and it equips the car with kidney grille, air duct trim and window frames in high gloss black.

Speaking of prices, the New BMW 5 Series variants have an on the road, without insurance price tags of RM 340,800.00 with SST and RM 334,353.95 without SST for the BMW 530e M Sport and RM 395,800.00 with SST and RM 384,941.86 without SST for the BMW 530i M Sport.

Above all, new BMW 5 Series owners will receive the BMW 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service programme, BMW roadside assistance with accident hotline, BMW Group Loyalty+ mobile app with BMW privileges card and BMW Service Online.
