The automotive industry has been struggling with a lack of semiconductors for a while now. Some already find the solutions to this issue because they’re trying to build up stocks, but the fact that we’re slowly approaching another wave of the chip crisis is worrying.

Tesla is one of the giant carmakers impacted by the chips shortage issue, and they are currently embracing an approach that has somehow affected their customers.

It has been reported that the company has started to ship cars without USB-C ports due to chip shortage to power this feature. The USB-C ports have been removed from both the centre console and the rear seats, and in some cases, not even wireless charging is available.

Tesla is silent about this issue, and customers will only find out about the missing feature once the car is delivered to them.

And, the question is, why does a carmaker as prestigious as Tesla compromise the quality of their cars? Well, simply because the company is trying to prioritise the usage of chips on other important features.

Not only Tesla, but the wave also hit General Motors as well as some of their cars missed their start-stop systems in an attempt to reduce the number of chips used on them.

The American car giant is reported to temporarily suspend the production at most of its North American plants.

After they resumed operations in early November, GM removed heated seats from plenty of models manufactured starting November 15, including Chevrolet Colorado, Blazer, Equinox, specific Silverado models, as well as GMC Canyon and GMC Terrain.

We won’t see this chips shortage be solved shortly as industry experts believe the problems will continue for at least one more year!.
