The hotter, peppier BMW XM Label Red makes landfall in Malaysia this week!

Following the introduction of the new G70-gen 7 Series flagship saloon, BMW Group Malaysia continues to update its local line up this week by announcing the availability of the XM Label Red. This is the hotter, peppier version of the ground-breaking XM super-PHEV SUV offering the firm introduced in back in March.

As previously reported, the range-topping Label Red version of the XM, which stands as only the second purpose-built BMW M model after the legendary M1, harnesses an identical powertrain package as seen in the base XM variant, albeit with a higher state of tune.

The petrol-electric package in the Label Red ups the ante over the regular XM, now offering 738 HP and 1,000 NM.

For starters, the S68 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 gains an additional 94 HP and 100 NM to develop 577 HP and 650 NM. The single electric motor paired with it continues to output 194 HP and 280 NM, thus granting the XM Label Red with a claimed total output of 738 HP and 1,000 NM.

This in turn sees the sizeable super-PHEV SUV desptach 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 3.8 seconds – 0.5 seconds quicker than the base XM – whilst heading towards its electronically governed V-max of 250 KM/H (or 290 KM/H with the optional M Driver’s Package).

Much of this rapid acceleration stems not just from the combined petrol-electric powertrain’s outputs, but also from the trick, rear-biased all-wheel-drive (AWD) and slick 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission paired to which.

L-R: Toronto Red and Shadowline exterior accent options also help set this hotter Label Red version apart from the base XM.

Notably, like the XM it underpins, this peppier Label Red version features a pre-gearing stage that boosts peak torque to 452 NM at the transmission input for the motor. Said motor continues to be juiced by a 25.7 kWh lithium-ion battery primed on board.

Of course, such a performance boost offered in the XM Label Red sees it trade off a little in terms of all-electric range, which now reads between 75 KM to 83 KM (WLTP). For comparison, the regular XM boasts a longer claimed 88 KM all-electric range instead.

Available for the XM Label Red are the choice between Toronto Red or Shadowline exterior accent colours, both complemented by the red outline on the ‘XM’ model badge on the front door. Additionally, the XM Label Red sees up to 50 custom paint options available via the BMW Individual Visualizer.

Besides that, there’s also the choice between bicolour 22-inch M light alloy wheels with red accents to match with the Toronto Red accent strip, or the bicolour black accent 23-inch M light alloy wheels in style Star Spoke that matches up with the Shadowline accent strip.

Striking bicolour exterior motif is replicated with the interior which also features diamond-pattern texture and red stitching.

On board, the exterior’s striking bicolour motif is mirrored through the luxurious upholstery that features a diamond-shaped texture and red stitching. The red accent also extends to the instrument panel, door trim, as well as the centre console.

The BMW XM Label Red is now open for orders priced from RM1,615,800 with taxes and duties factored in. Fortunate enough to have residence in tax-free Langkawi? Then the starting price reads much lower from RM939,800 instead.
