Maserati has had a busy month in Malaysia in June. It follows the Grecale SUV, which was unveiled earlier this month, with the MC20. Maserati can now boast that it has a supercar in its lineup!

The yellow car on display has already been sold to a customer, who took delivery on Monday. Because this is the only unit currently available in Malaysia, the customer, who is said to be a businessman, has agreed to let the local distributor have the car for a few days to promote the model.

The MC20's starting price is RM1.08 million (before taxes, insurance and options). The Maserati halo car has a one-year waiting list.

The car also comes in a convertible version, which was revealed just last month, less than two years after the MC20 coupe made its world debut. In the future, an electric version will be available.

It has a sleek profile, with nothing protruding from the body except the side mirrors and a subtle rear spoiler that increases downforce.

The drag coefficient is 0.38, which is higher than that of many mainstream cars, because the MC20 generates a lot of downforce, which causes more drag.

The MC20 has butterfly doors and replaces the MC12 supercar, which was produced in limited quantities from 2004 to 2010.

In fact, carbon fibre is liberally used for the car's body to keep it lightweight. With a kerb weight of less than 1,500kg, the MC20 has the best weight/power ratio in its class, at just 2.33kg/hp.

The MC20 (MC for Maserati Corse and 20 for 2020, the year of its world debut and the beginning of the brand's new era) is powered by the much-touted Nettuno engine, a 630hp twin turbo V6 mill with 730Nm of torque.

It accelerates from 0 to 100kph in less than 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of more than 325kph.

An 8-speed dual wet clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

Maserati has traditionally relied on Ferrari engines. Maserati has used its in-house Nettuno engine for the first time in the MC20.

The dashboard in the cabin is designed with the driver in mind, with few sharp edges and few distractions which includes includes two 10-inch screens, one for the cockpit and one for the infotainment.

The MC20 is the first new-generation Maserati with an ignition button on the steering wheel (along with launch control); the five drive modes (Wet, GT, Sport, Corse, ESC Off) are color-coded.

The carbon fiber-clad central console is also simple, with only a few features: a wireless smartphone charger, a driving mode selector, two speed selection buttons, power window controls, Multimedia System controls, and a storage compartment beneath the armrest.

The adaptable suspension, which can raise the typically low supercar 50mm, is controlled by a single button.

Sonus Faber provides the hifi audio system, keeping things Italian.

For starters, Maserati offers six exterior colours for the MC20, but customers should be able to choose their own for an additional fee if the standard ones don't appeal.

Maserati offers the following factory colours: Bianco Audace (white), Giallo Genio (yellow), Rosso Vincente (red), Blu Infinito (blue), Nero Enigma (black), and Grigio Mistero (green) (gray).

Maserati Innovation Lab created the MC20 supercar, which is manufactured at the historic plant on Viale Ciro Menotti.

It comes with a 3-year warranty with unlimited mileage and a 3-year/60,000km free maintenance programme, whichever comes first.

Maserati also sells the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, the GranTurismo coupe, the GT convertible, and the Levante SUV in addition to the MC20 and Grecale.
