One of the brand’s best-sellers with the previous generations having sold over 3.5 million units globally. Riding on that success, Lexus presents the 5th generation RX.

Rolling out in 2023, the new RX line-up carries on its predecessor’s comfort-oriented vibe, along with more hybrid powertrains including a complex new turbo-petrol hybrid combination.

Design-wise, the unmistakable spindle grille, unlike the huge one on the new LX, the RX’s comes off a lot more restrained, yet it still looks radical with the top-half of the grille being body-coloured.

Then, the front end hangs a lot sharper and angular looking, with slimmer headlamps paired to a wider lower bumper.

The new RX now appears less like an SUV and more of a performance estate with its lowered roofline. Plus, with the larger wheels on the F-Sport version, it looks a lot sportier.

Its interior on the other hand is a significant improvement, transitioning from the tedious trackpad to a 14-inch touchscreen setup.

Said setup is huge and has a light touch response, bundled along with all of the usual technology features that one would expect from an SUV of this class.

Other notable elements fitted are the vegan leather-free upholstery used and the suite of luxury comfort features.

Few examples of the latter being, customizable ambient lighting, a new 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound audio, automatic door latches and advanced driver-assist features.

Besides that, with a longer wheelbase, the new RX provides a more spacious cabin with enhanced legroom for rear-seat passengers and increased seat distance overall.

Powertrain-wise, the RX 500h performance hybrid trim stands out. Focused on being sporty, the hybrid architecture includes a 2.4-litre turbo engine and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Its combined power output reads at 371 hp, and it also gets the intricate Direct4 all-wheel-drive system from the RZ 450e variant.

Not to forget, Lexus has also revamped the suspension and needless to say, the new RX also gets permanent all-wheel drive across all trims.

Speaking of which, other trims for the new Lexus RX include a 450h+ plug-in hybrid, 350h hybrid and 350 petrol.

Even though the pricing is still unknown, it is expected to be out sometime in the middle of next year and from the looks of it, a hefty increase from the current version is very likely.

All in all, with the new onboard tech, sleek design and the enhanced hybrid powertrain line-up, the new RX will positively hold its strong position in the luxury market.
