The Volkswagen Kombi visually inspired ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo is more than just a passenger carrier. It is a multipurpose business vehicle.

Presented by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VCV), these are the five interesting near-production concepts the all-electric van can disguise itself into.

ID.Buzz Flex-Cab Concept

Modified by Snoeks Automotive, the Flex-Cab concept serves as a transport vehicle, and is fit for shuttle, taxi, community minibus and trade services.

It is equipped with five seats in total, where the three seats in the back feature electrically adjustable configurations.

Other than that, the air conditioning system can be adjusted to either prioritise the passengers or the rear items.

ID.Buzz Paramedic Concept

Transformed by Bösenberg, the Paramedic concept has room for three passengers, and the cargo space is meant for use as a doctor’s workspace and storage for medical supplies.

Innovatively, the interior concept is made according to a modular system that only requires minor changes from the original van.

Also installed is a paramedic strobe light, and like the power sources for other additional hardware, it runs from a separate battery system.

ID.Buzz Cargo Box-Body Concept

Designed by Veth Automotive, the Box-Body concept features a rear-mounted box superstructure and is perfect for courier services.

Suggestively, the sides and back of the box can be fitted with normal doors, sliding doors or roller shutters for more practicality in loading and unloading packages.

With an increased load capacity from 3.9m3 to 6.0m3, it can accommodate a total payload of 680 Kg, where the interior uses durable and non-slip flooring.

ID.Buzz Cargo Miele Service Van Concept

Converted by CS/Würth and VCV, this paprika red Service Van concept is specially made for the home and commercial appliance company, Miele.

Up front, in the passenger compartment, there’s a centre console with an integrated folding table that serves as a workplace for the driver.

Meanwhile, its cargo space in the back is equipped with a special drawer system tailored to the service technicians’ specifications to store goods, spare parts and hardware.

ID.Buzz Cargo Refrigerator Concept

Created by Wükaro, the Refrigerator concept incorporates an electric drive with an electric cooling system, and is designed for last mile deliveries.

Its cooling system consists of a roof-mounted 230-V low-profile cooling unit, a flat ceiling evaporator, an inverter and four lithium-ion batteries.

The latter is mounted in the wheel arch to save space, can be fully charged in eight hours, and the van can be pre-chilled when connected to power outlets.

Capable of carrying a payload of up to 390 Kg, it is suitable for cold food and restaurant deliveries, or even as an ice cream van.

All in all, these five ID.Buzz concepts are indeed highly functional, and with the progress of VW’s electrification strategy, their production feasibility might just be looming.
