The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is an all-electric version of the third-generation BMW X1 (U11) SUV, and underpins BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology.
Fully-imported (CBU) from Germany in a single variant, the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport tags at MYR 285,800 for the Malaysian market.
Price is on the road, without insurance, and includes a five-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service program, eight-year or 160,000 KM battery warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App, BMW Privileges Card, and BMW Service Online.
Six exterior colours. Alpine White, Black Sapphire, M Portimao Blue, Cape York Green, Space Silver and Storm Bay.
Weighing in at 2,085 KG, the all-new BMW iX1 is 4,500 MM long, 1,845 MM wide, 1,616 MM tall, and has a wheelbase spanning 2,692 MM.
Stocky, muscular and elegant, it exudes a prominent front section with upright proportions, presenting an extremely dynamic charisma.
Detailed with chrome surround, Satinated Aluminium grille slats, ‘I’ badging and blue ring on the BMW roundel, the typically large kidney grille commands the front layout.
Standard is the M Sport package fitment, which sees a more aggressive front bumper with a hexagonal-shaped lower intake and prominent air curtains.
Also included is the M High-gloss Shadowline package.
Portraying a sportily sculpted silhouette with a long and slightly dipping roofline, the rear end matches the front with solidly strong proportions.
Very angularly designed, it looks sharp, clean and seamless, emphasising its elegantly broad stance.
The rear bumper is fitted with a diffuser-like element and has a large blacked-out portion akin to the ones on the latest BMW 3 Series.
Completing the layout are other accompanying trims, and notably the distinctive EV blue detail on the bumper corners.
Contributing to a fierce and focused looking outlook, installed is a pair of slender wrap-around and slim headlamp design.
They are adaptive LED units with high beam assist and L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
Slim, sharp and wrapped around, the 3D L-shaped tail lamps hold a very striking presence with its transparent and dark smoked-out glass. Fitted are full LED units.
The automatic anti-dazzle side mirrors are electronically adjusted and folded, with turn-indicators.
It rides on a set of 19-Inch M light alloy rims, five-double-spoke style 871M bicolour, wrapped in 245/45 R19 tyres.
The all-new BMW iX1 gets a slim and very airy designed dashboard, featuring an interior trim finish in Aluminium Hexacube Dark.
Paired to it is an elevated and neatly-arranged centre console with a switch-type gear selector, controls for specific vehicle functions, a start button and media controls.
Main highlight of the dash is the massive one-piece BMW Curved Display, stretching from the right to the far-centre.
Overall, the layout arrangement is ergonomically well put, with very easy reachability and drive-oriented.
One half of the BMW Curved Display, it features a fully digital 10.25-Inch LCD high-resolution instrument cluster with a Heads-Up Display (HUD).
Featuring the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, it runs on the latest BMW Operating System 8 (BMW OS 8).
Interior of the five-seater comes with a choice of two leather upholsteries. Alcantara-Sensatec combination (black-blue) and Vernasca (mocha/black).
The front is fitted with sport seats, featuring electronic adjustments and a driver-side memory function.

It gets four USB ports (two-front, two-rear), one 12-V socket (boot), and a wireless charging tray (front).
Accessing its automated-tailgate boot opens up to 540-Litre of loading space and up to 1-600-Litres with the rear seats down.
The all-new BMW iX1 features the following set of Advanced Driver Assistant System (ADAS).
Under Driving Assistant Plus, grouped are Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Speed Limit Info, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Departure Warning with Active Steering Intervention, Active Cruise Control with Stop/Go, Evasion Assistant, Front Collision Warning with Braking, and Left Turn Warning with Braking.
Whereas, under Parking Assistant Plus, grouped are Active Park Distance Control, Reversing Assistant, Lateral Parking Aid, Panorama Parking View and Drive Recorder.
Passive safety includes eight airbags, seat belt (anchor, pretensioner, reminder), ISOFIX, high-beam assistant, parking sensors (front, rear), 360-degree parking camera, attentiveness assistant, acoustic protection for pedestrians, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Tyre pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and security alarm.
Three settings under the BMW My Modes - Efficient, Personal, and Sport. The latter comes with the BMW IconicSounds Electric feature.
Featuring the other half of the BMW Curved Display, the infotainment sees a 10.7-Inch central touchscreen, running BMW Live Cockpit Professional on the latest BMW Operating System 8.

The all-new BMW iX1 underpins BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology, featuring two Electrically Excited Synchronous Motors (EESM).
Mounted on the front and rear axles, each of the electric motors are rated at 188 HP/140-KW and 247 NM of torque.
Mutually, the setup has a total system output of 268 HP/200-KW and 494 NM of torque. Temporary boost function bumps the peak power to 313 HP/230-KW.
Mated to the mill is a two-stage single-speed automatic transmission.
Power is sent to all four wheels, via an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H takes 5.6 seconds, onward to a top speed of 180 KM/H.
Installed is an underfloor-mounted 64.7-KWH Lithium-Ion battery, providing a total electric range of 440 KM (WLTP).
AC charging (11-KW) brings the state of charge (SOC) from 0% to 100% in 6.5 hours. DC charging (130-KW) brings the SOC from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes.
