The Honda CR-V is not an unfamiliar name to Malaysians. With the latest 2021 model, it comes in three variants; the 2.0 2WD, 1.5 TC-P 2WD and 1.5 TC-P 4WD. Prices range from RM139,912 to RM157,615. The fifth generation of the CR-V continues to impress with it’s astounding performance and comfort, proving that it is still one of the best family cars in the Malaysian market. 

The measurements are 4,623 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,679 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,660 mm for the 2WD variants. For the 1.5 TC-P 4WD variant, there is a slight height difference of 10 mm than the two variants. This makes the height for the 4WD being 1,689 mm.

The newest generation of the Honda CR-V exudes a new feel and look as has gotten a facelift that includes mild changes such as the new front bumper design. 

The rear view of the CR-V compliments the front view of the vehicle as it keeps a minimal and clean feel with the sleek rear tail lamps and the two slim-shaped exhaust pipes on each side of the vehicle. 

The three variants are all fitted with LED headlamps, LED front fog lights and LED daytime running lights. 

All of the variants are equipped with LED tail lamps, similar to the headlamps.

Both 1.5L variants are fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels while the 2.0L variant rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. 

Honda has utilized a good mix between metal and soft touch materials, keeping the overall cabin feel exclusive as the exterior of the vehicle. 

All the variants offer digital instrument clusters as it features a 7-inch TFT Display on the center meter. When using Waze or Google Maps, the cluster will show a distance to the next turn indicator.

All the variants come with 5 seats and are finished with combination leather. For the driver seat, it is equipped with a 8-way power seat with lumbar support while the front passenger seat provides a 4-way power seat to ensure the utmost comfort and convenience. The rear passenger seats include a 60:40 split fold with the one-touch fold-down feature.

The CR-V offers spacious space for the driver as well as the passengers, similar to all Honda cars. Legroom and headroom is better compared to any of its peers.

The vehicle has a spacious centre console box that can accommodate any necessities and several storage compartments in the front area.

There are four cup holders altogether in the center console and second row armrests, as well as four bottle holders for all four doors. 

The CR-V has a total of four USB charging ports being located in the center console and at the rear. The vehicle is also fitted with one 12-volt power socket located in the center armrest.

The CR-V is equipped with 553 litres of boot space and offers convenience with its low and wide opening for easy loading and unloading of items.

To name a few, the 1.5 TC-P 4WD has the following active safety features; Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Honda SENSING which features Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS), Lane Departure Warning and System (LDWS), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Honda LaneWatch Camera (LWC).

The passive safety features include six airbags located at the front, side and curtain, seat-belts with height adjustable anchorages for the front as well as rear ISOFIX child seats anchor points. 

All the variants feature a 7-inch Advanced Display Audio which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features amazing integration as whenever the user uses Waze or Google Maps,  the digital cluster will notify the distance to your next turn indicator. 

The 1.5 TC-P 4WD variant features a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) petrol engine which generates 190 hp at 5,600 rpm and 243 Nm from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm.  

Regardless of the variant, the Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) comes as standard. 

Power is sent to the two front wheels for all the variants excluding the 1,5 TC-P 4WD, which is the only all-wheel drive variant. 

The car is able to approximately accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 9.3 seconds.

The fuel consumption is approximately around 7.0 l/100km.

Convenience features include the remote engine start feature, Honda SENSING which features eight advanced driver-assistive technologies as well as a hands-free powered tailgate. 

Rear air vents available for the second row occupants. 

Thanks to CR-V being spacious, both drivers and passengers are able to enjoy a seamless drive.  

The sound insulation in the car is on a moderate level as the cabin can get noisy when reaching highway speed.
