The Isuzu D-MAX is currently on their 3rd generation, and there are seven variants available which are split across the single cab, extended cab and double cab body styles. Among the variants available are the 1.9L 4×4 MT Single Cab, the 3.0L 4×4 MT Single Cab, the 1.9L 4×4 MT Standard, the 1.9L 4×4 AT Standard, the 1.9L 4×4 AT Premium, the 3.0L 4×4 AT Premium and the top ranging 3.0L 4×4 AT X-Terrain. Prices start from RM 88,599, RM95, 538, RM 99,599, RM 106,999, RM 121,549, RM 128,038 and RM 141,938 respectively. These prices do not include insurance but are inclusive of the sales and service tax. The D-MAX highlights power, driving stability and space.

The measurements are 5,265 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 3,125 mm.

The D-MAX gives a powerful and commanding feel to it with the main focus being the enlarged grille and LED projection headlamps. The vehicle also comes with front fog lamps and dynamic indicators.

The rear of the D-MAX displays the LED combination taillamps as well as a rear bumper that is combined with the bed of the vehicle.

The front headlamps of the D-MAX 3.0L 4x4 AT-P variant are LED projection units that also include fog lights, built-in LED daytime running lights and dynamic indicators.

The tail lamps of the D-MAX are LED combination units.

The D-MAX comes with 18-inch wheels.

The design is a modern digital layout that gives a more commanding feel to the vehicle.

The instrument cluster is made up of a 4.2-inch touchscreen digital display.

The D-Max 3.0 4x4 X-Terrain AT variant comes with 5 seats for maximum comfort (depending on the variant). All seats are finished in a brown leather upholstery, along with an eight-way power adjustable driver seat with lumbar support.

The car has a glove compartment that can fit not only the car manual and service booklet but also is able to fit some essential items such as your masks and sanitisers as well as tissues for a quick fix. Other than that, there is also the cavern beneath the front central armrest where passengers are able to fit other essential items, as well as a compartment above the rear-view mirror.

There are 4 cup holders and 4 bottle holders available in the D-MAX. All 4 bottle holders are located in the front. There is one bottle holder located at each door panel. (depending on the variant)

The vehicle has 3 USB charging ports and a 12V charging socket.

The D-MAX can carry up to 1,108kg. The load bed of the double cab is 1,485mm long, 1,530mm wide and 465mm deep, while the extended cab is 1,795mm by 1,530mm by 465mm. 

The D-MAX has the following active safety features; forward-collision warnings, autonomous emergency braking, turn assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane-departure warnings, blind-spot monitors, pedal misapplication mitigation (automatic only), rear cross traffic alert, automatic high beam, a speed limited, multi-collision brake, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist, traction control, hill-start assist, hill descent systems, and electronic stability control.

The passive features include seven airbags, ISOFIX (crew cab only), reverse camera as well as front and rear parking sensors.

There are three drive modes available which are the 2H, 4H or 4L, to choose from to suit their needs.

The D-MAX is equipped with a 1.9 litre and 3.0 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 148 hp and 290 Nm, as well as 187 hp and 450 Nm, respectively.

The vehicles are equipped with a six-speed AT or MT, depending on the variant. 

Power is sent to all four wheels. 

The D-MAX is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds. 

The average fuel consumption is approximately 8.0 l/100km. 

The D-MAX comes with touchscreen audio display system, Apple carplay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, power door locks with remote keyless entry system and push-start button with smart key.

The quality of the ride is firm and the seats are very comfortable.  

The sound insulation in the car is effortless as road and wind noises were suppressed.
