Launched recently in Malaysia, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ is Mercedes-Benz’s new and fifth EQ model in its electric vehicle (EV) range, coming after the EQA, EQB, EQC, and EQS.
A counterpart to the flagship Mercedes-Benz EQS, it underpins the same Mercedes-Benz EVA 2 electric architecture platform, but in a more compact format.
Fully imported (CBU) from Bremen, Germany, the sole variant of the EQE 350+ business saloon tags at a price of MYR 419,888 (OTR without insurance).
Each purchase will come with a four-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, while the main drive battery is covered by a 10-year/250,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ stands at 4,946 mm in length, 1,961 mm in width, 1,512 mm in height and with a wheelbase spanning 3,120 mm.
A seamless design with a short overhang, the grille-less front-end projects an overall rounded appeal, typical of the EQ styling cues.
Then, the AMG Line package adds a more aggressive front bumper with large (fake) air intakes, commanding the edges and lower section of the fascia.
Matching the front, its rear further provides the dynamic accent with a sharp, minimalistic spoiler. Exuding a jointless design, the bumper extends to the sides giving the body a muscular shoulder section.
A Digital Light headlamp setup with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus active, they are full LED units equipped with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). They are angularly-shaped, slim and pointed, giving an overall focused outlook.
The tail lamps are also full LED units featuring a lightbar design, stretching from left to right, across the tailgate.
It is power adjusted and power folded with turn- and blind spot-indicators, as well as an automatic dimming function.
Completing the outlook, it is equipped with a set of 19-inch AMG five-double spoke light-alloy rims, wrapped in 245/55 R19 tires.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ has a futuristic cockpit outlook. Its dashboard features a slim vent band that spans across the entire width at the top, accompanied by protruding, turbine designed air-conditioning nozzles. Overall, the dash portrays the theme hyperanalogue via the contrast between high-tech precision mechanics and digital, glass display world.
It gets a 12.3-inch digital multi-function setup with a head-up display.
Fitted with the AMG Line interior, it features sports seats with the combination of Artico and Microcut microfibre two-tone synthetic upholstery in Black and Space Grey. Power adjustable, the front seats get heated and memory functions, and a four-way lumbar support.
Front and rear occupants have no issues with space as it has generous headroom, leg room and shoulder room.
It has practical spaces like a large centre console storage box, medium sized glove box, front seatback pockets, and front and rear door storage.
There are two flex bottle holders in the front centre console.
Equipped with the USB Package Plus, it features six USB-C ports placed around the cabin, including two in the open storage compartment underneath the centre console. It also has a Qi wireless charger.
Its hands free tailgate has a fairly sized 430-litres boot space for a sedan. The rear seats can be folded down using buttons on the boot lid for more space. It does not come with a front trunk (frunk) like the EQS.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ features the Driving Assistance Plus package which comes with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Extended automatic Re-start in traffic jams, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, Evasive manoeuvre support, PRE-SAFE impulse side, Rear sensors for the lane departure assistant, and URBAN GUARD vehicle protection, plus a Parking Package which includes a 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist. Others include blind spot monitoring, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop and go, and lane centering assist with Level two semi-autonomous driving.
Passive safety includes Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, door ajar warning, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), auto-dimming interior and exterior rear-view mirrors, side and front impact beams, seat belt detection with graphical indicator for all seats, window and knee airbags, airbag disable function, PRE-SAFE system, TIREFIT, engine immobiliser, anti-theft alarm system, and interior monitoring system.
Drive modes available via DYNAMIC SELECT are Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Individual. Whereas, via Recuperative Braking are D+, D, D-, Gliding (Shift Pedals), DAuto, and Eco Assist (One-Pedal-Driving).
It is equipped with a 12.8-inch portrait OLED central touchscreen infotainment display, running on the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) software. It incorporates a fingerprint sensor for individual driving preferences, MBUX Navigation Premium, hard-disc navigation, live traffic information, extended MBUX functions, MBUX augmented reality for navigation, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The Driving Assistance Plus package and the Parking Package will make driving less fatigue and much safer. Plus, with the other supporting systems, long-distance travels will be less of a burden for the driver as well as ensuring the safety of the occupants on board.
It has a 15-speaker, 710-W Burmester 3D sound system.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ harbours a single rear-mounted electric motor (Permanently Excited Synchronous Motors (PSM)), which is powered by a 90.56-kWh Lithium-ion battery. It generates a total system output of 292 HP (215-kW) and 565 NM of torque.
It has a Single Speed automatic transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via the electric drivetrain (eATS) on the rear axle.
It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and has a 210 km/h top speed.
Charging via AC at 11-kW from a 10 to 100% state of charge (SoC) takes eight hours 15 minutes, while DC charging at 170-kW from 10 to 80% SoC takes 32 minutes.
It has a driving range of up to 669 km on a single charge (WLTP).
Charging equipment consists of a five-metre charging cable for use at both home-use wallbox and public charging station setups.
Standard kit on the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ includes keyless go, THERMOTRONIC four-zone automatic climate control with individually controlled rear air vents, power-adjustable front seats with heated and memory functions, and a four-way lumbar support, multifunction steering wheel, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, rain sensing wipers, 64-colour active ambient lighting, pull-out sun visor, Illuminated door sill panels with ‘Mercedes-Benz’ lettering, a hands-free powered tailgate, remote boot lid closing, independent boot locking, trunk light, and automatic headlamps.
Ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time. The vehicle delivers a high-power density, high efficiency and high-power reliability. The overall drive has been tuned to provide complete stability and grip to the driver.
It is well equipped to offer a high level of NVH comfort (Noise, Vibration, Harshness). Its electric drivetrain (eATS) features magnets that are arranged inside the rotors in an NVH-optimised way (known as sheet metal cut). Plus, it also has a special foam mat all-around as an NVH cover.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ exudes an all-around sporty and energy filled outlook. Its smooth and seamless body contours kitted with the AMG Line specification is simply electrifying.
As for the interior, many elements of advanced sophistication are present that give easy connectivity to the occupants of the vehicle. Highlight being the MBUX system and the avant-garde designed dashboard.
Overall, inside and out the build quality is excellent, and with its distinctive outlook and energising powertrain, the new Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ is really well suited for the luxury executive segment.
