Mitsubishi has released its new Triton Athlete Malaysia in 2021, third generation where it is recognized as the star model of the Triton model. 

The Mitsubishi Triton is available in six variants which consists of the Triton Quest 4x2, Triton M/T, Triton A/T, Triton M/T Premium, Triton A/T Premium and the Triton Athlete. The price for this beast starts from RM79,890 to RM141,500 on the road without insurance.

Overall, for Mitsubishi Triton Dimensions Length, Width, Height in (mm) are 5,305 mm x 1,815 mm x 1,780 mm. Wheelbase is 3,000 mm. It weighs 1,930 kg. Whereas, Triton Athlete & A/T Premium were made slightly higher which sized at 1795mm.

Front part of Mitsubishi Triton VGT Athlete has quite a forceful look with the giant logo of Mitsubishi. On the front, beneath those 3D grilles it is equipped with parking sensors. All Mitsubishi fanatics also must be familiar with its chrome stripes at the sides. The whole front view is eye-catching and thrilling where it suits the name, Triton Athlete.

Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is equipped with Auto Bi-LED Projector with Black Accent and running LED daytime lights and full headlights on.

This 4WD is well-armed with a combination of  LED and bulb taillamps.

As for the front brakes, it comes with ventilated disc brakes, while the rear is a trailing drum unit.

At the front and rear seats, we can find storage at the door interior sides to put water bottles. There are a total of four cup holders, two are located at the rear foldable armrest while two more are situated near the front centre armrest. Also, four bottle holders are located each at the door panels.

All in total there are three USB ports. One in front and other two at rear. At the same time, there are two 12-volt power sockets located at the front centre console and inside the front armrest compartment.

As for its build quality, Mitsubishi Triton is renowned for having premium materials both interior and exterior. For example, this pickup truck is furnished with glossy black dynamic shield design and front under garnish. Other than that, it has a spacious cabin and sporty interior which matches a pickup truck very well. Lastly, do notice the illuminated scuff plates placed underneath the threshold.

This Triton Athlete truck is powered by a 2.4-ltre MIVEC Turbo Diesel DI-D Common Rail VGT with Intercooler. It generates 179 hp and 430 Nm of torque.

It has a six-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode and cruise control. This truck also allows a turning radius of 5.9 metres making it easier and stable, especially handling curves.

This Mitsubishi truck is a Super Select 4WD-II and for Off-Road mode suitable with gravel, sand, mud, snow, and rock. It is also most suitable to drive when going back to your hometown where the road is bumpy and all muddy, especially when it is raining. With this Triton Athlete, nothing can stop driver’s from getting past those rutted journeys.

This Mitsubishi Triton Athlete comes with the keyless entry with push start button, dual-zone automatic climate control and cruise control.

Like most of the pickup trucks, it has generous headroom for both the front and rear passengers, however, if a tall adult is sitting in front with their seats extended to the maximum, then the rear passengers may find it a little cramped in the legroom. However, it felt less bumpy compared to other pickup trucks.

Moderate sound insulation. It is pretty quiet when it's travelling at the speed of 80 km/h, where most of the wind, tyre, and engine noise is muted.
