Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd has introduced the all-new Nissan Almera Turbo in November 2020, offering three variants: - the VL, VLP and VLT. They were priced at RM 79,906.00, RM 85,715.00 and RM 91,310.00, respectively.
The Nissan Almera Turbo measures in at a length of 4,495 mm, a width of 1,740 mm, a height of 1,460 mm and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. It weighs about 1,090 kg to 1,114 kg depending on the variant.
The front of the Almera Turbo features the signature V-Motion grille and a pair of aggressive-looking headlamps with LED daytime running lights.
From the rear, the Almera Turbo looks conservatively sporty.
The VLT variant is equipped with LED auto headlamps accompanied by the LED daytime running lights.
The range-topping variant comes with the sporty looking LED rear combination tail lamps.
Its side mirrors are powered adjusted, with powered folding functions. It also displays the turn indicator and blind spot warning indicator.
Both the VLP and VLT variants come with the 16-inch alloy wheels as standard.
The Almera Turbo has a simple looking design. The buttons and switches can be easily reached by the front occupants.
Both the VLP and VLT variants’ is fitted with a half analogue and half seven-inch digital display instrument cluster. The speedometer display is analogue while the seven-inch digital display shows information like the RPM, media player options, eco-drive and many more.
Both the VLP and VLT variants are equipped with zero-gravity inspired semi bucket sport leather seats.
It has a small storage space under the armrest, and the glove compartment can easily fit in a few bottles of small mineral water
There are a total of four bottle holders, each located by the door panels and four cup holders conveniently located at the handbrake lever for the front occupants and at the rear armrest for the rear occupants.
It comes with a total of three USB charging ports, one located at the centre console, below the air conditioning buttons and switches, one located inside the front armrest storage area, while the last one is located at the back of the front armrest. There is also a 12-volt power socket available at the centre console.
The Nissan Almera Turbo offers 482 litres of boot space that can easily fit in three to four 24-inch luggage.
All three variants are equipped with the intelligent forward collision warning, intelligent forward emergency braking, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, anti-lock braking system and brake assist. Meanwhile, the flagship model has the additional 360-degree surround view monitor with moving object monitor, blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
The VL variant is fitted with two airbags, while the VLP and VLT variants are equipped with six airbags.
Only the range topping model is equipped with the cruise control.
The Nissan Almera Turbo is fitted with the eight-inch Nissan Connect touchscreen multimedia player that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity (wired).
There are six-speakers available in the Nissan Almera Turbo.
The Nissan Almera Turbo is powered by the all-new HR10DET 1.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates 99 hp and 152 Nm of torque from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm.
Paired with the X-Tronic Continuously Variable Transmission with D-Step Logic and Sport mode.
The engine’s output power is transferred to the front wheels.
It has a fuel consumption rating of 5.4 l/100km or 18.4 km/l. Nissan claimed that it can travel about 650 km on a 35-litres full tank.
The Nissan Almera Turbo is equipped with the intelligent key with push start button and engine immobiliser, and automatic air conditioning system.
Overall, the Almera Turbo offers a comfortable ride. The suspension tuning is slightly firmer compared to some of its competitors.
The wind noise and road noise were greatly insulated, thanks to the repositioned side mirrors, and the added insulation at all 4 doors and the A-pillar. There’s also the body side sealing and thickened door glass to help the noise reduction.
The Nissan Almera Turbo is already a successor to its predecessor. At the same time, the range-topping variant gives its competitors a run for their money with the additional safety features available on board.
