A more rugged version, and the latest addition to Toyota’s Corolla and GR-S line-ups, the new Corolla GR Sport.

Based on the regular 1.8G model, the suited-up C-segment sedan joins the likes of the Hilux GR Sport and the Corolla Cross GR Sport.

Fully-imported (CBU), it tags at MYR 152,800 (OTR, w/o insurance), and comes with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Three exterior colours. Platinum White Pearl MC, Red Mica Metallic, and Attitude Black.

Weighing in at 1,365 KG, the new Corolla GR-S stands at 4,635 MM long, 1,780 MM wide, 1,435 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,700 MM.

Sportily suited-up, it exudes a more aggressive exterior demeanour compared to its regular counterpart. 

The front-end sees Toyota’s GR Sport radiator grille (upper, lower) and GR Sport bumper, featuring a sharper and wider design with black trims all around.

Toned and athletic, it boasts a simplistic layout with smooth contours that aids to its overall appeal. 

The rear-end gets Toyota’s GR Sport rear bumper, featuring a slightly muscular rear-quarter panel and a simple black diffuser.

The headlamps are sharply-shaped and have a focused design. Fitted are Bi-LED units with auto On/Off and high-beam (Automatic High Beam (AHB)), LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED turn signals, and a Follow-Me-Home function.

Sharply smooth and wrapped-around, the tail lamps compensate for the minimalistic style well. Installed are full LED units with LED turn signals.

The black-capped side mirrors are power-adjustable with auto fold, signal lamps and blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)).

Gripping the asphalt is a set of 18-Inch GR Sport multi-spoke all-black machined finish alloy rims, rubbered-up in 225/40 R18 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 050 tyres.

The new Corolla GR-S has a clean and sharply-sculpted dashboard, draped in all-black leather, accentuated by gloss black and silver details.

All the elements are placed logically and driver centric, for a better driving experience. Overall, the craftsmanship is premium quality. 

Installed setup is a 12.3-Inch Colour TFT Multi-Information Display (MID) digital instrument cluster. It comes with four themes (Casual, Smart, Tough, Sporty) and three layouts.

The interior sees a black leather with red contrast stitching upholstery, featuring the GR logo embossed on the headrests (front seats).

Mounted up front is a power adjustable driver seat (eight-way, lumbar support) and a manual adjustable passenger seat. The rear seats get a 60:40 split-fold function.

Numerous storage areas. E.g., side door and back seat pockets, partitioned spaces and a caverned storage in the centre console and a decent-sized glove box.

Fitted is a three-spoke steering wheel, wrapped in all-black leather, accompanied by silver trimmings.

It gets multi-switches (Audio, MID, Telephone, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)), column adjustments (tilt, telescopic), paddle shifters, and an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.

There are four cup holders. Two at the front centre console and another two at the rear seating’s centre armrest.

Multiple power outlets are equipped, consisting of USB ports, 12-V sockets, and a wireless charging pad (integrated phone clip).

Accessing its powered-tailgate (remote-operated) opens up to 470-Litres of boot space.

Installed is a 9-Inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Miracast, live navigation, USB and Bluetooth.

Powering the new Corolla GR-S is a 1.8-Litre four-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve DOHC with Dual VVT-i, 2ZR-FE petrol engine, producing 137 HP/103-KW at 6,400 RPM and 172 NM of torque at 4,000 RPM.

Mated to the mill is a seven-speed CVT with Sequential Shiftmatic (paddle shifters).

There are rear air vents located at the rear section of the centre console.
