With the new second generation, the All-new Toyota Rush retains the image of an Urban SUV for Rugged-Active Lifestyles, combining the comfort of a passenger car with spaciousness, high seating position, and greater ground clearance of an SUV.

Length 4,435mm, Width 1,695mm , Height 1,705mm and Wheelbase 2,685mm , Weight 1,305kg and Fuel tank 45 Litres. The Toyota Rush is a very long car and may need some getting used to if previously your vehicle is from the compact segment.

Departing from the conventional form of the first generation, the styling has sharp character lines which give an advanced unique design that is known as ‘R-BLADE’. The ‘R’ stands for ‘Rush ’ and the ‘blade’ refers to Metal, Sharp and Edge, while a dual tone theme on the bodywork adds visual impact. It also comes with front fog lamps to help you find your way safely through bad weather conditions.

The back is large with a nice dual-tone colour effect. The taillamps play a major role in making the design more sporty.

The white and blue car colours really make the headlamps pop, with their black covering for the fog lights. Whereas the silver and black blends too well with the black cover reducing the dual-tone effect but gives off a monochromatic look.

Large LED taillamps make it easier to indicate driver intention to vehicles in the rear, whereas some cars have thin lights to make them sportier but sometimes harder to see.

The new normal, LED turn signals on side mirrors make it easier for other drivers to anticipate your intentions. Electrically powered makes it even easier to park in tight spaces or trim the width of the car in tight spaces.  

17-inch wheels with blade spoked rims show its sportier side. But can always be replaced to suit the owners' needs. For me, metallic chrome spinners are always the right choice.

Black leather with white trimmings envelope the dashboard, with the centre console as the centrepiece, with easy access knobs for quick adjustments to air conditioning. Knobs are kinda preferable with tactile feedback the driver can adjust according to feel. 

The cons of leather seats in hot weather can cook your skin off. But can be remedied with investment in good tinting and shades for the car. The good is that it is easier to clean than fabric.

Can easily bring 7 friends for a road trip, but with huge luggage, some friends may need to be sacrificed to bring your girlfriend’s make-up kit.

There is a small glove compartment that can fit in a few packets of wet tissues and a few small platforms to put your keys or cards.

Stay hydrated on the go with 13 cup-holders you can bring all the drinks you like but you will need to make frequent pit-stops for toilet breaks. It is still a nice feature to have.

2 accessory 12v connectors front and 3rd row make it easy for a handheld vacuum to cover the whole car, no need for long extension cords. 2 USB ports to keep your tablets fully charged and kids entertained.

Like every Toyota the build is impeccable with few to no issues.

Comes with most if not all safety features, which makes it the safest car in this segment. Nearly all aspects of driving a car will have sensors helping the driver be aware of other cars. Reversing into and out of parking, switching lanes, emergency braking, etc. While it is great to have the constant alarms and whistles will need some getting used to.

The Rush is the only one in the segment that provides 6 airbags. This will not affect baby chairs, as only the side airbags will deploy. The fear that is most commonly associated with this is that a front-facing airbag will suffocate the baby. But the baby chair will provide enough protection from being knocked by the airbag.

Panoramic view for parking or driving into tight spots, which is a great addition with the many small lanes when driving in Malaysia. 

6.8-inch DVD-AVX with USB mirroring to connect with your phone to bring your entertainment on the go. The problem with touch screen controls can be hit or miss which is frustrating.

The Rush may run on 105ps but is still able to carry 7 passengers or a full load of cargo with little to no issue on inclines. It can still ferry you, friends and family up to Cameron for a trip.
