Toyota Vellfire is one of the best-selling luxurious MPVs in the Malaysian market. Now, its latest iteration has received an update that packs power, looks, and features. 

The Malaysian market is offered in one variant, the Vellfire 2.5L, and it comes with a price tag of RM 367,881.

The Toyota Vellfire 2.5L comes with a very robust yet elegant design. The sharp edges and creases making up the front of the vehicle make the body pop with style. 

The front showcases a massive chrome silver-finished grille, a mish-mash of large and wide silver slabs and horizontal chrome slats within a large inverted trapezoidal housing. 

Paired to the chrome triangular housings for the fog lamps located at the lower edges of the bumper adds a finishing premium touch to the front fascia.

The back layout has a squarish profile with clean, smooth surfaces covering the boot, giving a typical van-like silhouette.

However, fitted with the minimalist roof-edge spoiler and paired with the horizontally placed thick chrome garnish at the centre of the tailgate makes it look very premium.

The Toyota Vellfire 2.5L gets sharp and slim angular-shaped headlamps with full LED units and LED DRLs with sequential turn signals, and the pointed and striking design gives the front a more focused and athletic look

At the back, the taillights get LED combination units and also sequential turn signals. The large S-shaped smoked-out wraparound taillamps have an outlook that complements the rear layout’s minimalist design.

The side mirrors are power adjusted and power folded with LED sequential turn signals and blind spot indicators.

The Vellfire 2.5L rides on a set of 18-inch dual-tone, twin-bladed five-spoke design alloy rims with 235/50 R18 Toyo Tranpath tyres.

The dashboard gets a driver-oriented layout with a more modern and sleeker-looking dark grey metal wood trim finish. The material quality is high, with a mixture of soft-touch and hard plastic gives an overall premium feel.

It has generously equipped storage areas, including large-sized door pockets, a side door armrest pocket, a couple of storage areas in the new cascading centre console, a cavern storage space in the centre console armrest and a decent-sized glove box.

There are 2 cup holders in the front centre console, 2 in the 2nd-row seats’ armrest and 2 in the rear side panels.

The Toyota Vellfire 2.5L features USB charging ports at the bottom of the centre console and a wireless smartphone charger hidden under the front armrest.

With a total of 616-litres of boot space, it can fit up to 4 large suitcases and four pet carriers simultaneously with ease. 

The Vellfire 2.5L comes with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of systems which include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Hill-start Assist (HSA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) and Parking Support Brake (PKSB).

Passive safety includes 7 airbags which include driver front, side, curtain and driver’s knee, seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, auto parking, front and rear parking sensors, reverse parking camera, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring system and security alarm.

The Toyota Vellfire 2.5L features a 9-inch Capacitive touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Hands-Free Telephone Function (HFT), Bluetooth and AUX connectivity and is paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a 10.2-inch ceiling-mounted HD entertainment display.

The Vellfire 2.5L is fitted with a 2AR-FE, 2.5-litre 16V naturally aspirated 4-cylinder inline DOHC petrol engine with dual VVT-I, which can produce 180 PS at 6,000 rpm and 235 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm.

The Toyota Vellfire 2.5L churns with a 7-speed Sequential Shiftmatic CVT with an intelligence gearbox. 

It has a smart keyless operation with push engine start, remote powered boot operation, 4 front row, middle row and last row air conditioning, multi-function steering wheel, steering telescopic functions, powered seats for all, the rearview camera with front and rear parking sensors, camera rear-view mirror, auto headlights and rain-sensing wiper function.
