Yes, Perodua really made a pink Ativa. And before you start wondering where the Pink option has been hiding on the configurator, there's a catch: you can't simply walk into a showroom and order one.
Perodua is offering just 10 Ativa Pink Edition units, and getting your hands on one requires a little more than having enough money to buy the car.
First, this isn't a new Ativa variant or a regular factory paint option. According to Perodua's announcement, the Pink Edition is an upgrade package for the Ativa AV, with each package valued at RM8,000.
And yes, that pink exterior is actually a car wrap.
Visually, Perodua hasn't exactly gone subtle either. Beyond the pastel pink body, the promotional car gets contrasting graphics running along its sides, Pink Edition script near the front doors and a black roof that gives the whole thing considerably more attitude than simply wrapping an Ativa pink.
Here's where the headline comes in. Perodua says customers need to book and register a Perodua Ativa and register their interest for the Pink Edition at a Perodua showroom by Oct 15, 2026. Doing that gets you into the campaign's weekly lucky draw. And only 10 customers will receive the full Pink Edition upgrade package.
So even if you're completely ready to put money down for a pink Ativa today, there's no straightforward "Pink Edition" box you can tick on the order form.
You'll need some luck too.
There is at least another way to walk away with something pink. Perodua is also offering 100 Pink Edition Accessories Sets as appreciation prizes.
Perodua's promotional artwork doesn't break down exactly what is contained in these standalone accessories sets, so we wouldn't assume they include everything found in the full RM8,000 Pink Edition package.
With just 10 full Pink Edition packages available, you're unlikely to start seeing pink Ativas everywhere overnight.
More importantly, this is a promotional upgrade package rather than the introduction of Pink as a permanent Ativa factory colour.
That distinction matters because Perodua specifically describes the offer as a Pink Edition Upgrade Package, while the exterior treatment itself is listed as a Pink Edition Car Wrap.
So if the response to these 10 cars turns out to be huge, could Perodua eventually decide Malaysians deserve a proper pink factory colour?
That's a question for another day.
