The GWM ORA 5 Hi2 HEV has officially rolled off the production line at EP Manufacturing Bhd's (EPMB) facility in Pegoh, Melaka, marking a major milestone ahead of its Malaysian launch this November.
With bookings already open and an indicative price below RM115,000, the upcoming hybrid SUV is now another step closer to Malaysian showrooms.
Note: Pricing is indicative. Driving range is manufacturer-claimed under specified test conditions.
The ORA 5's Malaysian production involves more than final assembly. According to EPMB's latest manufacturing update, locally sourced components include front frame modules, rear axle assemblies, instrument panels and wiring harnesses.
While the overall local-content percentage has not been disclosed, these components provide a clearer picture of Malaysian supplier participation in the ORA 5's production.
The rollout also fulfils GWM's local assembly commitment announced at GATE 2026, with the ORA 5 joining the HAVAL H6 HEV and locally assembled WEY G9 in the brand's growing Malaysian lineup.

The ORA 5 Hi2 HEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), producing a combined 223 PS and 476 Nm.
GWM claims fuel consumption as low as 4.4 L/100 km and a driving range exceeding 1,100 km, without requiring external charging. Actual figures will vary depending on driving conditions, traffic and vehicle load.
GWM has indicated a selling price below RM115,000, with bookings open nationwide since 5 October 2026.
The official November launch is expected to reveal three important details: final pricing, Malaysian-market specifications and ownership benefits. These will help buyers assess the ORA 5's value against other SUVs in its price range.

With its first locally assembled unit now complete, the ORA 5 Hi2 HEV is ready for its next milestone: the official Malaysian launch, where buyers will finally learn its confirmed price and full equipment list.
