17 New Mercedes Models Are Coming To Malaysia In 2027 - Here's What We Know

If you thought Mercedes-Benz Malaysia had been busy lately, 2027 is shaping up to be considerably busier. The German luxury marque is planning to introduce 17 new models in Malaysia next year, covering everything from compact cars to its top-end luxury offerings.

And no, this won't be an EV-only affair. Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia President and CEO Martin Schulz says the upcoming products will span both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-electric vehicles (EVs), giving Malaysian buyers a choice of powertrains across the range.

But here's the more interesting part for Malaysia: most of those 17 models are planned to be locally assembled in Pekan, Pahang.

Mercedes hasn't revealed the full 17-model line-up yet, but we already have a few clues about what 2027 could look like.

TL;DR
  • Mercedes-Benz Malaysia plans 17 new models for 2027.
  • The product push will cover both combustion and battery-electric models.
  • Most of the 17 are planned for local assembly at Mercedes-Benz's Pekan facility.
  • The products will range from compact cars to top-end luxury models.
  • Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has not revealed the complete 17-model line-up yet.

17 Models, But Mercedes Isn't Revealing Everything Yet

First things first: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia hasn't named all 17 models. What it has confirmed is just how broad its 2027 product push will be.

According to Schulz, the upcoming products will stretch from compact models to top-end luxury vehicles, with both combustion and battery-electric powertrains represented.

It's also worth remembering that "17 new models" doesn't necessarily mean 17 completely new nameplates. Until Mercedes reveals the individual products, we don't know exactly how that figure will be divided between all-new models, updates and other product introductions.

What we do know is that Malaysian Mercedes showrooms are going to look rather different by the end of 2027.

Most Of The 17 Are Planned For CKD

This could actually be the bigger Malaysian story. Schulz says most of the 17 models planned for 2027 will be produced at Mercedes-Benz's Pekan facility in Pahang.

And Mercedes isn't restricting that localisation push to combustion-powered cars. The company began localising EV production in Malaysia in 2023, and says further investment in Pekan will continue as its product portfolio expands.

The facility also has substantial production capabilities, including its own body and paint shop.

WHY PEKAN MATTERS

Mercedes' localisation push now extends beyond traditional combustion models. With EV production already part of the equation, Pekan is becoming increasingly important to the brand's electrified Malaysian line-up too.

We've already seen where this is heading. Mercedes has confirmed plans to locally produce the fully electric CLA and GLC, further expanding its Malaysian-made EV line-up.

So those 17 models aren't just about filling Mercedes showrooms with fresh metal. Most are expected to have a direct connection to the marque's Malaysian manufacturing operation too.

DON'T MIX UP 2026 WITH THE 17 MODELS FOR 2027
2026 PRODUCT ACTIVITY
CLA 200 AMG Line
Previewed for the Malaysian market in Singapore and planned for CKD production in Pekan.

GLC 300 4MATIC Electric
Previewed for the Malaysian market in Singapore, with its local market debut expected by the end of 2026 and local assembly planned.
2027 PRODUCT PROGRAMME
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia plans 17 new models for 2027, but has not revealed their identities yet.

What is confirmed is that the line-up will cover both combustion and battery-electric vehicles, from compact models to top-end luxury, with most planned for local assembly in Pekan.

Mercedes Isn't Going EV-Only

Another interesting part of the announcement is what Mercedes isn't doing. Despite expanding its EV portfolio and local EV assembly, combustion-powered models aren't disappearing from its Malaysian plans. Schulz specifically says the upcoming products will cover both combustion engines and battery-electric powertrains.

There's some local context behind that approach too. According to Schulz, Mercedes' EV share in Malaysia has doubled year-on-year, although EVs still account for a smaller share of its business than combustion-powered models.

ICE OR EV? MERCEDES IS DOING BOTH

Mercedes' 2027 Malaysian product push will cover both combustion and battery-electric vehicles, rather than shifting the entire line-up towards EVs.

The latest CLA gives us a good example of how Mercedes is approaching this. Its Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) was designed to accommodate both electric and combustion-based drivetrains, while the combustion-powered CLA uses 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

For Malaysian buyers, that means Mercedes' upcoming product wave won't force everyone down the same powertrain route.

2027 Is Going To Be Busy

Seventeen models in one year is plenty to keep track of. But the more interesting story isn't simply the number. Mercedes is preparing products across ICE and EV powertrains, plans to locally assemble most of its 2027 introductions, and is continuing to develop Pekan to accommodate an increasingly electrified portfolio.

The big missing piece is now obvious: which cars will make up the full 17? Mercedes-Benz Malaysia isn't telling us just yet.

But with several next-generation products already beginning to appear here, 2027 is shaping up to be one very busy year for the three-pointed star in Malaysia.
