Perodua Ativa X Is Now RM53K - Would You Still Buy A Myvi?

Auto News
Sofea Najmi | 17-09-2026 05:15 PM

A RM53,000 Perodua would normally have you shopping somewhere in Myvi territory. Right now, however, that same money can put you behind the wheel of an Ativa X.

Thanks to a hefty RM9,500 Malaysia Day rebate, the entry-level Ativa has dropped from RM62,500 to RM53,000 until Oct 31. That puts it just RM1,900 below the RM54,900 Myvi 1.5 H.

So if your budget sits around RM53,000 to RM55,000, which Perodua makes more sense for what you actually need?

TL;DR
  • Ativa X: RM53,000 after a RM9,500 rebate.
  • Myvi 1.5 H: RM54,900 official list price.
  • That's a difference of just RM1,900.
  • The Ativa X gives you the turbo SUV package.
  • The Myvi H counters as a higher-spec hatchback with better claimed fuel consumption.

RM53K Ativa X Vs RM54.9K Myvi H

The price overlap is what makes this comparison interesting. The Myvi 1.5 H officially lists at RM54,900, while the Ativa X temporarily costs RM53,000 after its RM9,500 rebate.

That's only RM1,900 between an entry-level Ativa and a mid-spec Myvi.

JUST RM1,900 APART

Ativa X: RM53,000
Myvi 1.5 H: RM54,900

The Ativa X normally costs RM62,500, but its RM9,500 Malaysia Day rebate has temporarily pushed it into Myvi H territory.

Why The RM53K Ativa X Suddenly Looks Tempting

At its regular RM62,500 price, the Ativa X sits comfortably above the Myvi H. Take RM9,500 away, however, and the equation changes.

For RM53,000, the Ativa X gives you a five-seat SUV powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder producing 98 PS and 140 Nm, paired with a D-CVT.

You also get 200 mm of ground clearance and an adjustable luggage compartment offering 303 litres in its upper configuration or up to 369 litres with the floor lowered.

Then there's the taller seating position and SUV-style packaging, which could matter more to some buyers than additional equipment.

You can check out the Perodua Ativa model details and specifications on Carz for a closer look.

WHAT ATIVA X BRINGS

Turbocharged torque, SUV seating, 200 mm ground clearance and more flexible luggage space, now at a price just RM1,900 below the Myvi H.

But The Myvi H Isn't A Base Myvi

Here's where the comparison gets more interesting. The Ativa X may be the SUV, but it's also the entry-level Ativa. The RM54,900 Myvi H sits further up the Myvi range.

Its naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder produces 103 PS and 137 Nm, also paired with a D-CVT.

The H also brings equipment including 15-inch alloy wheels, six airbags, auto-folding side mirrors, automatic headlamps, a built-in toll reader and multimedia display.

Fuel consumption is another point in its favour on paper. Perodua quotes 21.1 km/l for the Myvi H, compared with 18.9 km/l for the Ativa.

So you're not simply choosing between a cheaper Ativa and a more expensive Myvi. You're choosing between an entry-level SUV and a higher-spec hatchback.

What Does The Extra RM1,900 Get You?

This is perhaps the most useful way to look at the comparison. Moving from the promotional Ativa X at RM53,000 to the Myvi H at RM54,900 costs another RM1,900.

In return, the Myvi H trades the Ativa's SUV packaging and turbocharged engine for a higher trim level, additional convenience equipment and the better official fuel-consumption figure.

The Ativa, meanwhile, gives you the taller body, higher ground clearance, stronger peak torque and more flexible luggage capacity for slightly less money.

WHICH ONE FITS YOUR PRIORITIES?
THE ATIVA X MAY APPEAL MORE IF YOU WANT:
Higher seating position
200 mm ground clearance
Turbocharged torque
SUV styling and packaging
More flexible luggage capacity
THE MYVI H MAY APPEAL MORE IF YOU WANT:
Higher trim level
Smaller hatchback footprint
More convenience equipment
Better claimed fuel consumption
Familiar Myvi packaging

Don't Forget, The RM53K Ativa Is Temporary

There's one major caveat to this comparison. The Ativa X hasn't permanently become a RM53,000 SUV. Its regular price remains RM62,500.

The RM53,000 figure comes from the current RM9,500 Malaysia Day rebate, which is available until Oct 31, 2026, subject to the promotion's terms and conditions.

Once that discount disappears, the normal RM7,600 price gap between the Ativa X and Myvi H returns, assuming their regular prices remain unchanged.

THE REBATE CHANGES THE EQUATION

At regular prices, the Ativa X costs RM7,600 more than the Myvi H.

Under the current Ativa promotion, it instead costs RM1,900 less.

There's Also An Ativa Hybrid Coming

There's one more thing prospective Ativa buyers should have on their radar. Perodua has already confirmed plans to locally assemble the Ativa Hybrid in Malaysia. Its final retail price and full Malaysian specifications have yet to be announced.

There's also no confirmation that the current Ativa rebate has anything to do with the incoming hybrid, so we wouldn't connect the two. Still, it's useful information to know if you're considering an Ativa today and planning to keep it for several years.

So, Ativa X Or Myvi H?

The interesting thing about this promotion isn't simply that the Ativa has become cheaper. It's that RM53,000 to RM54,900 now puts two very different Peroduas on the same shopping list.

The Ativa X offers the taller SUV package, turbocharged torque and more flexible luggage space. Spend another RM1,900 and the Myvi H counters with its higher trim level, additional convenience equipment and better claimed fuel consumption. Neither combination suits every buyer.

But while the Ativa X remains at RM53,000, anyone already shopping for a Myvi H suddenly has another Perodua worth putting on the comparison list.

THE REAL QUESTION

Would you rather spend RM53,000 on an entry-level Ativa X, or add RM1,900 for the RM54,900 Myvi H?

At these prices, the decision is less about which Perodua is cheaper and more about which set of features and compromises suits you better.
