Chery Malaysia has added another member to the Tiggo Cross family, and this time the name promises a little more attitude.
Launched in Malaysia today, Oct 7, the new Chery Tiggo Cross Sport Edition is priced from RM91,800, although Chery is currently offering it at a promotional price of RM83,800, subject to terms and conditions.
That's certainly an attention-grabbing number. But there's another question worth asking.
What exactly makes this Tiggo Cross a Sport Edition?
The short answer? It looks sportier. Underneath, however, this is still very much the Tiggo Cross Turbo Malaysians already know.
TL;DR
Most of the changes are immediately visible. Chery highlights the addition of a sporty front and rear lip, giving the Tiggo Cross a more aggressive, lower-looking stance than the regular Turbo.
The rear treatment is particularly noticeable, with a more prominent lower section helping give the Sport Edition a meaner appearance than the standard car.
In other words, think of the Sport Edition as a factory-dressed Tiggo Cross Turbo rather than a hotter performance variant.
And that's an important distinction, because the Sport badge doesn't bring any additional horses with it.
Pop the bonnet and you'll find the familiar 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 147 PS and 210 Nm, sending power through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Chery also quotes fuel consumption of 6.3 litres per 100 km, while the Sport Edition carries a 51-litre fuel tank.
So if you were hoping the Sport Edition would bring a more powerful engine, revised transmission or another performance upgrade, that's not what Chery has done here.
Bottom line: the Sport Edition adds attitude rather than horsepower. The familiar 147 PS and 210 Nm turbo setup remains.
Because the Sport Edition is based on the Turbo, the familiar Tiggo Cross equipment package remains.
Inside, there's Chery's 20.5-inch integrated display, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging and a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support.
Safety and driver assistance equipment includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHC).
So while the Sport Edition's biggest talking point is its appearance, buyers still get the Turbo's familiar convenience and driver assistance kit.
According to Chery Malaysia's latest official price list, effective Oct 7, 2026, the regular Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo is priced at RM88,800 on-the-road without insurance for private individual buyers in Peninsular Malaysia.
The new Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo Sport Edition, meanwhile, is priced at RM91,800 on the same basis.
| Variant | OTR Without Insurance | Difference |

| Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo Sport Edition | RM91,800 | +RM3,000 |

And Chery's own price list makes that RM3,000 difference especially easy to explain: it separately itemises the Sport Edition Aerokit at RM3,000. The underlying net selling price of the 1.5 Turbo remains RM88,400 for both versions.
In simple terms: the Sport Edition carries a RM3,000 premium over the regular Tiggo Cross Turbo, and Chery's official price list attributes that RM3,000 to the Sport Edition Aerokit.
There is a launch deal, though. At the launch, Chery displayed a RM83,800 promotional price for the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition, compared with its RM91,800 official OTR price.
That knocks RM8,000 off the Sport Edition's official price for now, although the promotional offer is subject to terms and conditions.
So while RM91,800 tells us exactly how Chery values the Sport treatment against the regular Turbo, the current RM83,800 promo makes the Sport Edition considerably more tempting at launch.
The Tiggo Cross Sport Edition is available in Carbon Black, Phantom Grey and Khaki White.
It comes with a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, along with a seven-year or 150,000 km engine warranty. Chery is also including free labour for six scheduled services, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
For those who want to see the Sport Edition in person, Chery is displaying it at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya from Oct 7 to 11, 2026.
Yes, but perhaps not in the way the badge might first suggest. Chery hasn't tried to turn the Tiggo Cross into a performance SUV. There's no extra power, no new transmission and no dramatic mechanical overhaul.
Instead, Sport Edition describes the look.
You get the familiar 147 PS turbocharged formula dressed in a more aggressive factory package, with the front and rear treatments doing most of the visual heavy lifting.
At its RM91,800 list price, you're looking at a RM3,000 premium over the regular Turbo's list price for the Sport treatment. But once the current promotions enter the equation, the gap changes again, which makes the deal available at the showroom just as important as the badge on the tailgate.
So no, the Tiggo Cross Sport Edition isn't faster. But at RM83,800 for now, the sharper factory look may be enough to get some buyers through the showroom door.
