Heading back to your hometown for Deepavali? The government has confirmed a 50% highway toll discount on 6 and 7 November 2026, giving eligible motorists two days of cheaper travel ahead of the festival on Sunday, 8 November.
According to the Ministry of Works (KKR) announcement, the discount runs from 12:01 AM on Friday until 11:59 PM on Saturday.
The discount covers Class 1 private vehicles, as well as Class 2 vehicles using the Penang Bridge.
However, the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) toll plaza on PLUS and Tanjung Kupang (TTK) toll plaza on LINKEDUA, both at the Malaysia-Singapore border, are excluded.
The government expects to pay RM20.11 million in compensation to participating highway concessionaires, subject to verification of actual traffic data. The initiative is intended to ease travel expenses during the Deepavali celebrations.
Before setting off, motorists can visit the official PLUS website for highway and journey-planning information, or check LLM's highway CCTV feeds for traffic conditions along supported highways.
KKR also reminded drivers to ensure sufficient Touch 'n Go card or eWallet balance, observe speed limits, maintain a safe following distance and take adequate breaks on longer journeys.
